Dota Pro Circuit- The International 2019

Valve recently announced their changes to the TI9 Dota 2 Pro Circuit for the season 2018-2019 which will start from September, modifying the player based point system to a team owned point system. The roster lock will also only be conducted before the TI8 qualifiers. So, a team can shuffle players without worrying much about the loss in the number of points it used to lose.

Few important points to note for the upcoming season:

  • In cases where one organization or person has ownership in multiple teams, only one of those teams will be eligible to compete in The International.
  • Removal of a player will decrease the DPC points of a team by 20%. And the addition of a player won’t affect the team’s standing on DPC.

In the previous years of DPC arrangements, there was a huge argument regarding who should get the points after winning an event and if the system could be abused by a big organization and exploit the team members. A player who has hard earned their win might lose it all if, at the end of the season, the team management decides to change players.

A new free agent who has won an event will not provide any benefit to their new team in terms of DPC points which can help them qualify for the TI.

With the new season announcement of TI9, the schedules for 5 Minors and 5 Majors which will be held in a close counter providing 1 minor with 1 respective major.

The schedule of the TI8 season DPC has been announced already with Valve having an open invitation for organizers to send schedule booking offers.(November Major being reserved already)

Teams will have to register their roster by September 15th, 2018 10:30 PM IST to participate in the September Minor and Major qualifiers starting from 17th September.
