Irony Inc. is set to host its first esports tournament in India in partnership with Alpha Esports Tech Inc and Garena.GamerzArena, owned by Alphatech, will be the platfor for this event
The tournament will hit the floor on February 25th with the League Qualifiers and will end on March 28th. The total prize pool on offer is Rs one lakh and the event registrations are currently open.
Irony Inc. will be finalizing a total of 48 teams to battle it out against one another.
The news of this joint event comes shortly after Irony Inc. partnered with Esports Charts to bring data and analytics services for the Indian esports community.
Teams need to register at irony.gamerzarena.com and sign up for the upcoming event. Weekend matches will take place from 12 noon till 3pm, while matches scheduled for weekdays will occupy the 5pm to 8pm slot.
To enter the League Qualifiers, teams will have to play three hours of random matchmaking and earn a score. The organizers would require all teams to send screenshots of their four total games for the qualifiers.
Once the final teams enter the qualifiers, GamerzArena will calculate the scores and notify the shortlisted teams on March 2nd.
Details on the upcoming stages are not yet available on the official website. Players will need to check the full ruleset before registering on the tournament website.
Commenting on the tournament, Ankit Bhatia, co-founder of Irony, said that Esports viewership and its fan following is growing much faster than any traditional sport in the world today.
“This tournament is our first step to change that by bringing together teams, fans and data on a single stage. We intend to make esports more understandable to the Indian marketer,” added Bhatia.
