New items, more nerfs greet players as Dota 2 gets 7.28 patch update

Valve has released the patch notes for Dota 2 update 7.28 and there is a lot to go through, including all-new abilities for a number of heroes, a new hero and brand new items including some Blink Dagger variations. Known as the Mistwood update, Valve has been successful in keeping most of their plans and surprises under wraps till the game is launched.

To keep anticipation levels up, it has been learnt that information regarding the patch has been deliberately leaking out since a few days, with the likes of new Blink Dagger upgrades, new abilities for heroes and the new hero apparently being teased on the official Dota 2 site. Initially it appeared as if every hero would be getting at least one new ability, but now the patch notes for 7.28 are out, players are already aware of these abilities only being accessible with an Aghanim’s Shard. This add-on will cost around Rs 1400.

Going beyond these latest abilities and powers, the next big upgrades and additions have been made to the items. A host of new items have been added, including the attractive Fluffy Hat that costs 250 gold and grants 125 health, as well as the funny bones triggered by Wind Waker that is essentially an improved Eul’s Scepter that a player can cast on himself and move the tornado around while already in it.

The game also sees a recipe change of a lot of older items, which is intended to lure a player to use them more often. A few changes have also been carried out to neutral items. The Mango Tree, Poor Man’s Shield and Iron Talon have all been removed and have been replaced with the Fairy’s Trinket, Chipped Vest and Possessed Mask.

No prizes for guessing that the nerfs and buffs offered to most of the heroes are colossal, with the likes of Sven being hit pretty hard by the nerf hammer. This will surely go down well for those tired of seeing the same heroes in every match. However, with so many changes there are sure to be a few overpowered heroes still lurking around.
