Among Us engages half a billion players in November

Among Us seems to be having a dream run in the gaming market as it became the most popular mobile game clocking a record number of player engagement last month. According to info available on Nielsen’s SuperData, around half a billion people played Among Us in November. Statistically, this puts Among Us right at the top of the popularity charts if monthly player numbers are anything to go by.

Setting the charts on fire

This is a truly commendable achievement for a multiplayer game like Among Us, which became an overnight sensation this year owing to higher player engagement during these pandemic times. According to Carter Rogers, Principal Analyst at SuperData, the previous game reached the highest monthly players mark with 300 million which is 200 million less than what Among Us achieved.

Majority of the Among Us players are also on Among Us mobile, with only 3% from the PC version, the report added. The latest milestone also comes shortly after Among Us bagged the best multiplayer and mobile game awards at The Game Awards 2020.

The game was recently launched on the Nintendo Switch and if reports are to be believed, an Xbox launch is scheduled for next year. As of date, it has been available on Android, iOS and Windows PC. Among Us was also the most downloaded game globally in November, and topped the download charts in both the Google Play Store and the App Store: not a mean feat by any standards!

New maps in the pipeline

Not willing to rest on its current laurels, Innersloth has said that it has already begun work on a new map for Among Us. Christened ‘The Airship’, it’s stipulated to be the biggest Among Us map introducing new tasks, ladders and elevators for players to move from one place to another.

Additionally, the Airship in Among Us will also let players carry on from different post their emergency meetings. This will be the fourth map in Among Us after The Skeld, Polus, and Mira HQ, and it’s scheduled for an early 2021 release.
