Fortnite adds Matchmaking Portal device in Creative update v17.30

Fortnite’s patch v17.30 update has introduced the Matchmaking Portal device, which allow players to create private games and join public games

The latest patch v17.30 update in Fortnite has introduced a large number of items and features to the game. While we covered the Skydome feature, today we bring you another useful addition to the game: the Matchmaking Portal device.

Epic Games has added a new option to the Matchmaking Portal device to allow players to create private games as well as join public games. Gamers can use the Matchmaking Portal to create a portal that warps players from one island to another.

They can make a game that crosses multiple islands, and use these portals to get players from one to another. Players can also use portals to build a hub on each of their islands that displays all of their creations and gives players the opportunity to try them out.

Matchmaking Portal: Things to remember

With this addition, older islands which have not been republished recently could give an error when players try to enter them via matchmaking portals. If this occurs, players can republish the Island to resolve the issue.

• Player Chooses: Players can decide whether to join public games or play privately when activating the portal.
• Public Only: The portal will always matchmake players into public games when activated.
• Private Only: The portal will always put players into a private game when activated.

Epic Games plans to add the Matchmaking Portal’s ‘Join Options’ when the Matchmaking Portal is updated in a future release. Fortnite players can expect further details in subsequent announcements.
