Optic Gaming vs Virtus.Pro – A hard show for VGJ.Thunder

Optic Gaming made a huge leap on the DPC leaderboard by securing the second spot in the ESL-One Birmingham major organized in the UK and established themselves at the 9th ranking. DPC points define the teams which will secure The International direct invites by Valve. With the ongoing China Dota 2 Supermajor, quite a handful of speculations have surfaced regarding the final 4 teams which will be invited to the TI8 alongside Virtus.Pro, Team Liquid, PSG.LGD and Team Secret.

The current China Dota 2 Major tournament bracket standing reflect the teams Mineski, Vici Gaming and Newbee having secured their TI8 direct invite while there’s still a sword hanging right above VGJ.Thunder (1935 DPC Points) which might drop down in case Optic Gaming (1800 DPC Points) wins against Virtus.Pro in the lower bracket which is scheduled for 9th June at 10pm IST and enters the top 4 ranking in the supermajor.

DPC Points distribution by tournament placing in China Dota 2 Supermajor:

1st Place: 1125 DPC-P

2nd Place: 675 DPC-P

3rd Place: 337 DPC-P

4th Place: 112 DPC-P

Optic Gaming Dota 2 roster:

  1. Pajkatt
  2. CC&C
  3. 33
  4. zai
  5. ppd

VGJ.Thunder was knocked out by Newbee in the lower bracket Round 2 while Optic Gaming has reached lower bracket R4 after continuously beating EG and TNC. Still, if Optic Gaming fails to secure their win in the Best of 3 matchup against season veteran Virtus.Pro, VGJ.Thunder will become one of the top 8 teams in DPC and secure a direct invite.

In the current event standings, Team Liquid and PSG.LGD have reached the Upper Bracket finals defeating Secret and Virtus.Pro respectively and have thus secured a spot in top 3 standing in the tournament. While in the lower bracket, team Secret and Virtus.Pro will face Round 4 winners and the matches will decide the remaining two teams to enter the top 4 in the tournament.
