Activision announces new Call of Duty game coming in 2021

Activision will launch a new Call of Duty game by the end of this year and it is touted to be developed by Sledgehammer Games

Activision has announced the launch of a new Call of Duty game this year. The news was confirmed during their Investor Call a few days back. The game’s exact release date has not been confirmed yet.

This comes close at the heels of an amazing 2020 for the game, with 250 million players across platforms and regions. Player expectations are at an all-time high and it was but natural for Activision to keep the momentum going.

Treat under wraps for Call of Duty fans

Both the Warzone and Black Ops Cold War titles by Call of Duty have been a major hit among players over the years. While the developer has not stated which development team will be working on this new game, company executives have assured of a ‘premium’ experience on its way for gamers.

Rumoured developer for new COD game

If rumours are to be believed, Sledgehammer Games is working on this new COD title. The developer has been a regular with the Call of Duty franchise since 2014 and was responsible for developing Call of Duty: WWII and Modern Warfare titles.

The last project developed by Sledgehammer Games was COD: WWII back in 2017. It seems Activision is redialing its old studio ally 2021. Last year the studio overcame much of its personnel handicaps, which occurred since 2018 and is now 150 developers strong.

COD 2021 release date

The official release date for the 2021 game is not yet out. However, going by past Activision trends, players can expect an October or November launch.

Activision mostly releases most of its titles in May and we can expect a teaser by the same time this year announcing the release.

Due to the raging pandemic last year, Activision launched COD: Black Ops Cold War in August. This new game will not replace any existing one and shall run parallel with Warzone & Black Ops Cold War. This was confirmed by Activision President, Rob Kostich.

It seems an exciting year ahead for COD lovers and the game can surely expect to add a significant number of new players to its already massive pool of existing fans.
