COD: Black Ops Cold War gets Double XP starting this Weekend

The double XP update will get the famous Firebase Z zombie feature along with the classic Black Ops 2 map and additional bundles

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Season One is getting a mid-season update arriving on Thursday, February 4th. The update is expected to add features to both Zombies and multiplayer modes, thereby providing fans of the game something to cheer as the first season draws to a close.

PlayStation players on both PS4 and PS5 will get a bonus day of double XP on February 4th in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. On February 5th, all platforms can make use of the XP bonus. The XP period will run for an unspecified time on February 8th.

New features & maps in double XP update

Both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will get the double XP update. The most anticipated update however, was the introduction of the Firebase Z, which will be arriving as a free update and will take the zombies story forward after the end of Die Maschine.

The classic Black Ops 2 map Express in multiplayer will also go live this weekend. This will have an Express 24/7 playlist added, including Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint.

Double XP update gets a twist

Alongside the new map will be the return of the Tombstone Soda perk, this time equipped with a Dark Aether twist. Players can obtain the ‘Reunited with Fidolina’ trophy in this mode, but stats, leaderboards and challenges will remain disabled.

Dead Ops Arcade will get a new Solo Advanced Start mode. In this, players can get an advanced starting position based on the highest round achieved by them in Dead Ops Arcade 3 Solo.

Additional bundles in Double XP update

Another bundle coming to the Store this week is the Garcia-centric ‘Scar Tissue’ bundle, which includes the Legendary ‘Hatchetman’ Skin, decking out the Warsaw Pact Operator in a smooth vest-and-tie combination.

This skin is expected to pair fine with the bundle’s ‘Blood Money’ Legendary SMG. This includes a 45-Round barrel drum, a Hawksmoor optic, Steady Aim Laser for higher accuracy and a Sound Suppressor to take enemies by surprise.

Also, the the Legendary ‘Tight Rope’ Finishing Move, an Epic ‘Aqua Mariner’ watch, ‘Head Hunter’ Sticker, ‘Badge of Terror’ Emblem and ‘Fire at Will’ Calling Card will be on offer.
