Riot Games plans to have new Modes, Shorter Game formats in Valorant

Riot Games plans to introduce new game modes, shorter games and variable team sizes to Valorant in a bid to experiment

Fans of Valorant could well be up for quite a few surprises in days to come. Riot Games plans to introduce more game modes in the multiplayer tactical shooter. This, coupled with a number of other experiments is in Riot’s pipeline including a potential 3v3 mode.

Riot eyes new game modes in Valorant

With Riot launching the Escalation mode February 16th, Valorant currently has a gamut of six game modes since its launch. While some are permanent fixtures, others have come and gone in limited-time playlists.

These constant additions make it evident that Riot is willing to include a variety of new modes. The players seem quite pleased with this and the game’s future appears bright in that regard.

Valorant developers had recently revealed some of their future plans. These included experimenting with team sizes and game lengths to make new experiences for players.

Short game modes in Valorant touted

For quite a while now, Valorant developers have been quizzed about their intentions to introduce shorter game modes. While players enjoy the core Plant & Defuse game formats, many wish the game had quicker versions to spice things up.

“This is definitely something we have considered,” developer Jared ‘Darkhorse4Life’ Berbach had assured players earlier.

“There’s definitely a desire for a shorter form of the standard game mode. Nothing concrete to announce here as of yet, but stay tuned,” he added.

While there’s no set timeline for such a mode, Riot does seem to have big plans for something on similar lines.

Experimenting with Valorant team sizes

With the current modes on offer, team sizes in the game appear rather limited. Standard playlists focus on strict 5v5 gameplay, while DM is set to FFA only. If deliberations at Riot materialize, the above trend could soon be a thing of the past.

Riot is believed to have prototyped modes with different sizes, including 3v3 and 7v7. While they haven’t announced any official changes, they seem open to change.
