Riot Games has finally paid heed to gamers’ most awaited requests to provide them with a more secure and powerful multi-factor authentication feature. The company has now added a multi-factor authentication method to enable players to add extra security to cut the risk of their accounts being compromised.
The platform, though earlier had a multi-factor authentication that would prompt gamers to enter a code when logging into their Riot accounts on a different device. However, the feature is strengthened further as the players can now opt to enter a code each time they log in, even on the same device.
The new multi-factor authentication will go into action on all of Riot’s platforms. That means the feature is now available on their launcher, each of their game clients, Riot Mobile, and its website. However, gamers who sign into their Riot accounts through a third party like Garena, won’t be able to access the feature for extra security.
Currently, an email id is the only way to authenticate your identity when logging in. However, Riot is planning to add several new ways to do this in the future. If it works we can see mobile phones or authenticator apps being used to validate the login.
Right now, the multi-factor authentication to your account is the perfect way for players to beef up their account security. If you haven’t done it yet, this is the right time to do it.
To add up the multi-factor authentication, head on to your account on Riot Games’ website, select the multi-factor authentication option, and enable extra security. It’s done.
